According to Andy Rubin, director of mobile platforms at Google, the minimum requirements for Android handsets are 32 MB of RAM, 32 MB of flash memory, and a 200 MHz ARM 9 processor. There are companies within the Open Handset Alliance working to bring that to even lower-power phones.
